Myth of The Ixoria by Melvina Hazard copyright 1998 Once there was a secret, sacred spirit world . And that world was pure. And here on this sacred land, dwelled a sacred spirit and her name was Ixoria, Queen of the Healing Flowers. The High Priestesses from the Outer World would make clandestine pilgrimages to this mystical world, to gather Ixoriaís magical petals. And they in turn would take the flowers to the ruler of the sacred realm- The Holy-Mother-Goddess-of ñThe-Waters who would bless them. They in turn would sprinkle the blessed ixorias in the waters of the holy goddess ;washing their faces so that the visions that lurked behind their prophetic eyes would be revealed unto them. The high priestesses, would then reveal their visions to the mortals of the Outer World. Who would then be healed of all their ailments that tormented their anguished souls. On sunny days, the Sun God claimed the sky. But would descend at eventide to the riverís edge to visit Ixoriaís flower garden palace. There, they would become lovers for the night- she basking in his blood red twilight and he in her sweet nectar. They were as happy as only lovers could be. One night, a mortal Man from the Outer World, an intruder, who had wandered the four corners of the world for centuries; his soul consumed by the demon god of hate- Hargatha, stumbled upon this secret sacred world and discovered the loverís blissful lair. The sight of Ixoria and her sun god lover so happy in a world so pure was unbearable to him because at the beginning of time, , his one true love had spurned his love. Tormented by jealousy, possessed by the hate of Hargatha, the Man raised his sharpened poyah to smite the lovers dead. The Ixoria Queen pleaded with the Man that the sun could not die because their sacred world would then become a black hole. Neither could she ñ for in dying, she would leave the people of the Outer World desolate and without hope of ever being healed again. While the Man wrestled with Hargathaís demonic rage and his own mortal reason, dawn approached and the sun was obliged to rise, all the while beseeching Ixoria to follow suit and save herself. But Ixoriaís nature would not allow her to leave the Man in his anguish. And so, she decided that only by staying and reaching out to the pain in his heart could she free the mortal from his pain. But it was too late for Ixoria: Hargathaís triumphed and possessed the Man to yank her from her sacred grounds and fling her into the holy river. This still did not quench the rage of Hargatha. And so in a burst of impotent rage, he consumed the Man from within before retreating into the oblivion of the Underworld. In grief and hopeless despair, Ixoria wept forlorn tears of longing for her deserting sun and pity for the ill fated man, whose doomed destiny had been foretold centuries before he came into existence. Her scarlet tears bloodied the sacred river, defiling the home of - The Holy-Mother-Goddess-of ñThe-Waters. The Holy Mother took pity on the weeping Ixoria Queen. And so she divided Ixoriaís fragrant petals into millions of tiny fragments, which she flung over the four corners of the Outer World. In doing so, Ixoriaís powerful healing magic, made even more potent by the pain of human suffering would heal the broken lives of the Manís descendants as they walked the universe, seeking to become whole again. The sun god in a pact of undying love, vowed to follow Ixoria to the ends of the earth. From that time and even today, the sun has always showered the Ixoria flower with his guilt ridden radiant rays wherever she grows. Sometimes, when the elusive blue moon finally conquers the sky, Ixoria and her sun god lover meet secretly for a few fleeting moments- and this union between the lovers is the reason why there are sometimes brilliant sunsets that bathe the sky a passionate blood red. |
